Heritage Caves, Walks & Stories of the Cosmos

Ancient Caves of Dark Sky Hill

Connecting to the land and heritage

Ancient Caves of Dark Sky Hill

A large rock formation with a sign in a wooded area.

Dark Sky Hill holds a cluster of heritage-listed caves right on the property. These ancient formations have sheltered people and wildlife for thousands of years.

We will guide you to the cave entrances through quiet bushland where you will discover the layered history written in the rock. The caves form a central part of our heritage and cultural tours and offer a rare, intimate experience on private land in the Warrumbungles.

Geological Wonders

Connecting to the land and heritage

Ancient Caves of Dark Sky Hill

Moss-covered rock formation with a cave opening surrounded by trees and bushes.

Various natural caves and rock formations around the property tell a powerful geological story. Layered sandstone, ancient river systems and dramatic overhangs reveal millions of years of natural history.

Our guides share how these features were shaped and why they matter. The same clear dark skies that make our stargazing world-class also highlight the rugged beauty of the landscape by day.

Dense eucalyptus forest with tall trees and green underbrush under a cloudy sky.

We explore the hidden secrets and messages of the land the flora and fauna that have been passed on and taught to us over the years.

Stories of the Emu in the Sky, the dark Hunter, Kourt Chin and the seasonal calendar portrayed overhead and expressed on the land beneath our feet, a gift from the stars above. Our guided tours explore the property from ancient shelters to geological playgrounds a river that regularly goes from wet to dry, full of character and trees marked in lines that tell a story.
